Roadmap: AIDS Memorial

Posted August 3, 2018 in More

“What is remembered, lives. Not just the names of our deceased, but their voices and faces are refocussed. Lives lived in adversity and often despair are recalibrated, not only for those of us mourning our dearly departed friends and lovers, but for successive generations. Stories of survival echo and have consequences.”

The campaign to build a place of memory for whose lives were destroyed by AIDS has begun. A public consultation was held at the start of this month.

Here’s hoping some momentum will lead to an announcement of a fitting memorial in time for World AIDS Day on December 1.
