New Generation
For designer Danielle Romeril, 2013 has been a stellar year. From the launch of both Autumn and Spring collections to some incredible media coverage (featured on style.com, in the pages of InStyle magazine and on the backs of blogger Susie Bubble and model booker Natalie Joos), Romeril is set to make her mark at London Fashion Week this month. Chosen as one of seven British Fashion Council NEWGEN winners, Romeril will have the opportunity to showcase her prodigious talent rubbing shoulders with the industries finest.
Oscar-worthy
Miuccia Prada can seemingly do no wrong. With consistently vibrant, innovative, bordering on surreal designs, she remains one of few current designers with an extraordinary ability to rework preconceived interpretations of attire. This is clearly evident in the Prada Spring Summer 2014 campaign, a smorgasbord of bright young things, clad in distinctive primary colours and pop-art prints. But it’s the Miu Miu advertisements that will be sure to capture the imagination, featuring the resplendent star of 12 Years a Slave, Lupita Nyong’o. All eyes are now on the designer to deliver a suitable Oscar-ready ensemble.
Fill the Gap
As a faithful devotee to the eponymous Gap hoody in my early adolescence, it now pains me to wade through the panoply of striped cotton v-necks and ill-fitting mom jeans in its Arnotts concession. But a new creative director seems set to turn the brand around with a fresh new take on American classics, interspersed with pretty patterned bomber jackets. Known for the creation of minimal, structured designs for Cos, Rebekka Bay may well be the woman to convert a younger demographic to Gap Inc.
