Professional and non-professional musicians are invited to apply for funding from the Music Capital Scheme to finance instrument and equipment purchase. This year a record €1,939,700 funding is available for the scheme which is supported by the Department of Culture, Communications & Sport – a substantial 78% increase on previous year.

€1,040,000 is available across three different awards for non-professional performing groups, individual established performing musicians and individual emerging performing musicians.

Music Network is committed to equity and inclusion, and encourages people from all backgrounds and communities to apply. Since 2008, the scheme has made 657 awards, providing access to instruments for over 59,000 people across Ireland. Previous awardees include Bluebell Community Development Project, Taisce an Oileáin (Arranmore Island), Portlaoise Men’s Shed, and musicians Libby McCrohan, Niall McCabe and Yseult Cooper Stockdale.

Applicant support will be available up until the deadline, especially for first timers or those who have been rejected in the past.

The first category (non-professional performing groups) includes not just groups but also schools, community and youth organisations and venues overseeing non-professional performance.

Applicants are open until 2pm on Thursday November 27th, with further information now available on musicnetwork.ie.

Good luck!
