A new wine appreciation course at Castleknock Community College this Autumn promises to uncork the secrets behind the bottle in an engaging, down-to-earth way.

Led by wine specialist and educator Sinéad Smyth, the eight-week course invites curious wine lovers to embark on a journey through the vineyards of the world as part of the college’s Adult Education programme.

Each week, participants will taste a range of wines from around the world while exploring topics such as popular grape varieties, iconic wine regions, how to read a wine label, and food pairing using everyday ingredients.

Facilitator Sinead Smyth says, “Wine is for everyone and it should be savoured, shared, and enjoyed without intimidation. This course is all about giving people the confidence to explore and appreciate wine in their own way.”

The course gets underway on Tuesday, 23rd September, and as part of the hands-on, practical experience wine is supplied each week, while participants are encouraged to bring two wine glasses from home.

For full course registration and information see castleknockcc.ie/adult-education

Meanwhile, for those who can’t commit to an eight-week course, Sinead also hosts an immersive wine tasting experience in the Corkscrew Wine Merchants shop on Friday, September 26th, where the focus will be on bringing the dramatic landscapes and pioneering winemakers of Lanzarote to life.

Tickets €50 per person via Eventbrite.
