Just a short trip up the road, old dock machinery, guided tastings and a side of maritime lore come together for a great excuse to visit the Northern cousins this summer.
Titanic Hotel Belfast recently launched the Titanic Distillers Experience, a new whiskey-inspired staycation package ideal for history buffs interested in learning more about the city’s shipbuilding and whiskey culture.

The experience at the hotel, which is set in the former headquarters of Harland & Wolff, pairs an overnight stay with a guided distillery tour, in a dockland experience that blends serious industrial backdrops with small-batch Irish whiskey production.
Guests can look forward to stunning Art Deco interiors and maritime memorabilia, with whiskey treats in the room on arrival, followed by the promise of a hearty Ulster Fry in the Wolff Grill the next morning.
Next up is a chance to discover Titanic Distillers, which boasts the distinction of being Belfast’s first working whiskey distillery in almost ninety years.

Set inside the restored Pumphouse at Thompson Dock, it’s located in the very spot where the ill-fated ship was fitted out before her maiden voyage back in 1912.
As the locals frequently say of the famous liner, “She was alright when she left here”. If that’s not cause for a wee dram, we’re not sure what is.
