Noel Hawkins – ‘A True Raytowner’

Posted 1 min ago in Food & Drink Features

We were really sorry to learn of the passing of Noel Hawkins, an absolute legend who worked behind the bar at Mulligans with three generations of the family for almost fifty years.

In a heartfelt post on their Instagram page, the Poolbeg Street hostelry said, “He was a fantastic friend/barman and always had a huge welcome for everyone who came into Mulligans, no matter if it was your first time or you were a regular.”

Famed for his bright, good humour and colourful shirts, he had an uncanny knack for lifting the spirits of everyone who crossed the threshold, and we count ourselves amongst the many beneficiaries of his ministrations over the years.

As that online tribute so nicely put it, “We will all miss his songs, his jokes, good and bad, and the banter from a true Raytowner! We will all miss him deeply.”

And so say all of us. Our condolences to Noel’s family, friends and all who will miss his sunny presence at Mulligans.
