Hot Chicken Summer – Dave’s Lands in Dublin

Posted 1 hour ago in Food & Drink Features

On the fast food front, this summer may well be remembered as a time of serious heat, with two American chicken joints leading the charge.

Hot on the heels of the first Irish opening of Popeye’s, the Louisiana brand famous for its legendary ‘Shatter-Crunch’ chicken, comes cult US sensation Dave’s Hot Chicken.

Founded by three friends in a parking lot in East Hollywood back in 2017, the years since have seen the venture grow from an initial investment of $900 into one of America’s biggest fast-food success stories, backed by celebrity investors including Drake, Usher and Samuel L. Jackson.

Bringing its A game with Nashville-style hot chicken, galaxy-themed interiors and plenty of hype along for the ride, Dave’s Dublin outpost promises all the over-the-top energy of its LA roots, complete with space-age décor inspired by street artists Splatterhaus and Dehmq.

The brand has amassed a devoted following thanks to its crispy sliders, fiery tenders and a spice scale that ranges from “No Spice” to the infamous “Reaper” — reputedly so hot customers need to sign a waiver before tucking in.

They tell us their mission is to “blow minds” with an offering that captures the raw energy of Dave’s U.S. locations, while adding a distinctly Irish edge.

If your heat tolerance is up to the challenge, consider this your cue.
