To coincide with Climate Action Week comes the drop of Forever is Now, a documentary that immerses viewers in a family’s private life to gain a deeper understanding of the high-stakes impact of climate politics.
Directed by Neasa Ní Chianáinhe the feature length documentary follows former Irish Green Party leader and Cabinet Minister Eamon Ryan during his final year and a half in government.
The film steers us through Ryan’s battle against public interest in climate issues, flatlining, political pressure, and far-right pushback.
Weaving in the politician’s family life and close relationship with his son Tommy, who has autism, the documentary also gives us glimpses into how Ryan’s experiences at home reflects his politics, reflecting his persistence, empathy, and belief that lasting change – whether in politics or family – requires patience and hope.
In selected cinemas from October 16th. A full list of screenings can be found here.
Climate Action Week takes place from October 12th – 19th.
