Little Death Is Coming In TEENAGE SEX AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA

Emmy® Award Winner Hannah Einbinder stars as Kris, an up-and-coming queer filmmaker hired to direct a reboot of the slasher Camp Miasma franchise. Alongside her is Gillian Anderson as the mysterious Billy Presley, a reclusive former actress and the “final girl” of the original film. Together, Einbinder and Anderson ignite the screen as they delve deeper into the depths of Camp Miasma and the legacy of Little Death.

TEENAGE SEX AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA, directed by celebrated filmmaker Jane Schoenbrun (I Saw the TV Glow) received its World Premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Queer Palme and received rave reviews.

Inspired by the hyper-sexualised—and often transphobic—horror films of Schoenbrun’s youth, TEENAGE SEX AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA playfully skewers the genre and pays homage to a wide variety of cinematic icons. After numerous slapdash sequels and a waning fandom, the fictional slasher franchise of “Camp Miasma” is in need of a refresh. Taking on this challenge is “Miasma” superfan, filmmaker Kris (Hannah Einbinder). While researching her project, Kris tracks down the first film’s “final girl” Billy (Gillian Anderson), now an eccentric hermit who lives on the site of the very summer camp where the films were shot. Their connection leads to an unexpected bond that transforms them in ways neither of them could have ever anticipated.

TEENAGE SEX AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA has been met with universal acclaim. Critics have highlighted Jane Schoenbrun’s direction, with Variety calling it their “most accomplished, most persuasive and most playful movie yet.” Critics have also praised the strong central performance from Einbinder and Anderson, with Little White Lies calling Einbinder’s Kris “effortlessly endearing” while The Telegraph describes Anderson’s Billy Presley as “a perfect horror queen”.

Einbinder and Anderson are joined in TEENAGE SEX AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA by a fantastic ensemble cast including Jack Haven (I Saw the TV Glow), Patrick Fischler (Mulholland Drive), Eva Victor (Sorry, Baby), Arthur Conti (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) and Zach Cherry (Severance).

Erotic, hypnotic and intriguing, don’t miss TEENAGE SEX AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA when it comes to Irish cinemas on August 21st.
