Written by Seán O’Casey and first performed on February 8, 1926 by the Abbey Theatre, the play is set amid the tumult of the Easter Rising in Dublin. The Plough and the Stars is the story of ordinary lives ripped apart by the idealism, revolution, and patriotic nationalism.
