If there happened to be a mural of the year awards ceremony, then the one of Stormzy by the Subset collective in Smithfield would be on the podium. It truly has a transformative effect on the still grey-tinged surrounds but it may be gone by December 15th. Dublin City Council want it gone as it was erected without planning permission. Subset can’t afford to fight it. The mural is on the Linders building. Jonathan Melvin, the property manager for the building has no beef with it. “It’s a massive shame for the mural to come down, it brightened up an otherwise dull street.” C’mon DCC, let some common sense prevail.
