Kilmainham Gaol Museum is currently hosting an exhibition created by Professor Joanna Brück of the UCD School of Archaeology in association with seven people from around the world who came to Ireland as refugees.
Objects, War and Memory in Ireland Past and Present explores how objects tell stories of courage, resilience, love and hope in the face of conflict through the personal testimonies of participants who describe objects they have brought from home and what these mean to them.
Interspersed with these personal stories are the stories of objects from Kilmainham Gaol Museum, revealing resonances between the contemporary experiences of refugees and experiences of war, oppression and in Ireland’s recent past.
The exhibition runs from 26 September 2025 to 31 January 2026, with last admission at 4pm.
