Ruvan Wijesooriya first met James Murphy at a house party in the Lower East Side in 2000.
Our first show was just…“Do you want to go to London and stay at a fancy hotel and play this weird show for free? You’ll get your airfare and your hotel room paid for and your drinks and maybe a dinner…” and we were like, “Fuck it, why not? I hate my job so let’s go!”
Wijesooriya ended up documenting LCD on their spectacular rise, becoming their trusted go to man behind the lens and releasing a book about his time with them.
Wijesooriya has collaborated with artist Joe Henry to create 11 paintings to go alongside the photographs and re-create LCD Pop Artworks in his own artistic language also.
Open Gate Brewery until Thursday and Friday 5:30pm to 10:30pm and Saturdays 2pm – 8pm, €9 include a tasting paddle. Runs until June 22.
