Aoife Scott has interrogated her love for and connection to the sea and the natural world, and has juxtaposed this sensibility with the anxiety she feels as she observes the devastating impact that we as a society have made on our environment.
‘Through my practice I communicate feelings of calm and excitement with more worrying feelings of anxiety and frustration as I seek to find a balance between the natural and the man-made world’, says Aoife of her work.
“I am intrigued by the push and the pull between the two and strive to explore the relationship between them using different natural and manmade materials. I hope that the colourful energy of the work draws in the viewer and that the contrasting textures, soft, overlapping floating shapes juxtaposed with the bold lines create a tension and friction which expresses my concerns about the print and mark that we are leaving on our planet’.”
