Dovecote is the moniker used by songwriter Niall Colfer, who is joined by guitarist/producer Sean Coleman, bassist Mark Kelly and drummer Barry Smullen. The band bring together their blend of alternative folk/rock to their debut, critically acclaimed eponymous debut album.
The release of the album saw Dovecote receiving radio play on all the major Irish stations (including the prestigious ‘Album of the Week’ on RTE Radio 1), as well being the focus of features in Hot Press and the Irish Independent. This was followed by invitations to play the famous Other Voices festival in Dingle and the Windmill Lane Sessions in the famous recording studio.
Dovecote play a full band show upstairs in Whelan’s of Wexford Street, on Friday 15th Sept. Special guest will be the fantastic Patrick M Barret (Hedge Schools). Here’s a taste of Dovecote’s talent, performing ‘Every Dog.’
