Comprising of over 30 collected recipes and stories around Cork and Dublin, including Mick O’Shea, Rory O’Connell, and Darina Allen, Take the Cake: Soda Bread is the work of artist April Gertler. This hybrid lecture performance / baking show sets out to examine “the historical trajectory of common ingredients of a cake using a feminist and post-colonial perspective” and first premiered at the Temple Bar Gallery + Studios in the autumn.
Now the accompanying limited edition book, which was launched at Index Art Book Fair in Mexico last month, lands on the shelves of the Library Project where it was commissioned by was commissioned by curator Julia Gelezova under her Terms of Consumption banner.
