The Franco-Irish Literary Festival marks 25 years with a packed weekend programme in Dublin at the end of this month, featuring an impressive line-up of celebrated international authors and literary figures.

This month sees the Franco-Irish Literary Festival celebrate its 25th anniversary, as it continues to provide a unique opportunity for lovers of literature to meet and engage with contemporary writers, artists, publishers, and academics from Ireland, France and beyond.

First launched in 2000, the prestigious cultural event aims to widen and enhance the long-standing friendship that exists between France and Ireland by promoting inter-culturalism and multilingualism through literature.

In addition to making a valuable contribution to the mutual understanding of Franco-Irish cultural identities, the festival also provides a unique platform for writers, editors and translators to forge new professional connections during the course of a packed weekend in Dublin.

The vibrant 2025 festival programme once again sees organisers bring together key figures in the French, Francophone and Irish literary scene, while strengthening the bonds between both countries through their shared appetite for culture and literature.

This year’s packed programme on the theme of ‘Celebrate / Célébrer / Ceiliúradh’ features a host of fascinating panel discussions, interviews, readings, performances, screenings and signings with many of the leading lights on the literary scene today.

Organised jointly by the French Embassy in Ireland and Alliance Française Dublin, the impressive 2025 line-up includes such celebrated international literary figures as Azouz Begag, Jan Carson, Micheál Ó Conghaile, Laetitia Devaux, Theo Dorgan, Catherine Morency, Camille Laurens, Doireann Ní Ghríofa, Hugo Hamilton, Claire Keegan, Claire Kilroy, Maram Al-Masri, Camille O’Sullivan, Véronique Ovaldé, Léonor de Récondo, Peter Sirr, Alan Titley, Sabine Wespieser and Frank Wynne.

The Franco-Irish Literary Festival takes place in the dual environs of Dublin Castle and the Alliance Française. All events are free of charge with simultaneous interpreting provided.

Presented by Alliance Française Dublin and the French Embassy, with the support of the Arts Council, UNESCO City of Literature, RTÉ and TG4.

The Franco-Irish Literary Festival takes place on Saturday March 28th and Sunday March 29th. Further information can be found here.
