Joy Gerrard – Shot Crowd RHA Gallery

Posted March 18, 2017 in Exhibition Previews

Joy Gerrard’s large scale monochrome paintings and drawings emerge from the ‘crowd’ whether that’s part of the Arab Spring or a Black Lives Matter protest.

Gerrard sets the historical specificity of her protest images against an abstract depiction of space and human movement.

These are an astute and fastidious examination of the most timely of concerns.
