Dublin-based photographer Dragana Jurišić presents her photo exhibition The Last Balkan Cowboy, following in the footsteps of cult Yugoslavian film director, Hari Džekson.
Džekson was renowned for his interpretation of Wild West genre archetypes in his films, using local people as cast and crew, bringing together people of all different ethnic backgrounds. Jurišić’s life has been intertwined with Džekson’s legacy since childhood, Džekson being a close friend of her father’s and being the one to teach her how to use a camera.

The photographs in this exhibition were taken during 3 cross country trips through Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia in between location scouting, research and filming for a feature length documentary directed by Jurišić on Džekson’s life, career and mysterious disappearance, which will release in later 2026.
The exhibition presents itself as a cinematic panorama of photographs referencing the Western landscape’s horizon line; a symbol of opportunity and new beginnings.
The exhibition runs at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, until 01 March 2026.
