Enchanted forests, people drinking from teacups dressed up as the Cheshire Cat, and John Talabot. Body and Soul is heaven for two kinds of people – acid heads and kids. We decided to interview the more eloquent of these two types about their festival experience this year – take it away, little people.

Killian

Is this your first time here?
No, I was here last year. I couldn’t wait to come back.

Describe what you can see.
We’re in the forest playing on bikes. One has a peddling powered drum on the front, and the other is an animation bike. When you pedal, it makes the drawings move.

What is your favourite thing to do here?
Busking. We went busking yesterday and made €28.

Eh, amazing. What kind of busking?
We were dancing!

Jessica

What is your favorite thing to do here?
I love busking!

How long can you hula hoop for?
Two hours.

Would you come back when you are older to perform?
Maaaaybe.

What do you think of the music?
I prefer to wander around and look at things, there’s a lot to see!

Name three things you would bring to a festival.
A hula hoop, hippy clothes and flowers for my hair.

Eva

What do you think of the festival?
It’s really fun, I like all the stuff here.

Describe what you can see.
There is a stage made of wood across from us. There is a tent beside us, there are people inside it setting up for yoga.

Have you seen any of the bands?
No, I’d rather do activities.

Ciarán

Have you been to any other festivals?
Yes, but they are not as good as this one.

What is your favorite thing to do here?
Really?

Yes really.
The food is great. Especially the burgers.

Have you seen any bands yet?
I’ve seen two bands, but I don’t know their names. I want to be a drummer, I did the drumming workshop in Soul Kids, it was really good.

Name three things you should bring to a festival.
In case I get lost I would bring a compass, money and drum sticks. No wait, I take back the compass. I would bring my teddy, Mossy.

Kaya

What were you doing in the big tent?

Hula Hooping and yoga.

What do you think of the festival?
It is really cool!

What is your favorite thing you’ve done so far?
Pottery, getting our hair braided and hula hooping.

What do you think of the music?
We didn’t really listen to it. We heard a bit when we were walking past.

Eimear

What do you do with your mum during the day?
I help her sell clothes from the stall at Port Royal, Jamaica Town.

Do you work at any other festivals?
Just the one-day ones.

Where is your favorite area at Body and Soul?
Jamaica Town, I like to dance to the music.
