With a melancholy yet hopeful sound, Fire With Fire is one of those songs that just seems made for a the soundtrack of a chick flick. You can almost envision the two halves of a star-crossed couple racing through city streets to find each other, leading up to a grand reunion. The lead single off the Scissor Sister’s third album, Night Work, is much more low-key than earlier hits like Filthy/Gorgeous and I Don’t Feel Like Dancin, but just as catchy. Fire With Fire has the same ‘80s influences and electronic sound, but the opening piano notes make it clear that this is a song more about real feelings than technology. Poetic lyrics and a simple chorus allow both the song and a residual sense of urgency to get stuck in your head.
