Chimichurri – The Irish Chapter

Posted 12 hours ago in Food & Drink Features

Founded by Argentinian native Mathias Garcia and Irishman Donal Roche, Dublin food brand Twenty Two Days is currently bringing a little bit of South America to Dublin tables with a punchy new Chimichurri Sauce that enables one distinctly Irish ingredient to do all the talking.

The handcrafted sauce swaps out traditional red wine vinegar for malt vinegar, giving it a deeper, rounder flavour that works brilliantly with everything from fish and chips to steak, seafood, pizza, and salads.

We’re told that the brand’s name was inspired by Jimmy Curry, an Irish emigrant to Argentina, widely considered to have been the creator of the famous Chimichurri recipe.

The story goes that back in 1876, he reputedly made the 22 day journey from Ireland to Argentina, where he created a sauce cementing the links with his new home.

The fast talking locals subsequently changed his name to Chimichurri, and the rest is history.

The 162g jars are available online and from stockists including Asia Market, Corrigan’s Butchers, and South American Shop. RRP €6.50.
