Acclaimed Irish novelist and writer Patrick McCabe has been announced as the 2026 IPUT Writer-in-Residence at Wilton Park as selected by a committee chaired by fellow writer Colm Tóibín.
The IPUT Writer-in-Residence, which includes a generous stipend making it one of the most valuable literary awards in Ireland, is given on an annual basis to a published writer, enabling them to live and make work in Dublin.
Located in an elegant refurbished Georgian apartment at Wilton Park, the residency is in an area with rich literary connections, known as Baggotonia. McCabe has had a lustrous career, being shortlisted for the booker prize twice and having two of his novels, Breakfast on Pluto and The Butcher Boy being adapted for screen by director Neil Jordan.
McCabe has moved to Dublin to take up his residency this month.
