Trinity East Campus features Bahamian artist Tavares Strachan’s intriguing sculpture portraits of legendary American abolitionist and social rights activist Harriet Tubman and Jamaican political activist Marcus Garvey.

The sheer size of the sculptures alone is impressive, as if the pure attempt of displaying their social achievements is literally towering anything else around it.

Picture shows Ruin of Giants companion sculptures by internationally renowned artist Tavares Strachan, now on display at a new free-to-view public art space on the Trinity East Campus of Trinity College Dublin.

Strachan is renowned for his intersections of art, politics, science and displaying cultural dynamics of scientific knowledge.

A graduate of Fine Arts from Yale University he was named a MacArthur Fellow in 2022. He represented the Bahamas at the 55th Venice Biennale and has had numerous solo exhibitions, including at the prestigious Hayward Gallery in London and at LACMA in Los Angeles.

Launched by Dublin-based public art organisation The Form Foundation, Strachan’s display in Trinity launches a ten-year programme which brings international art into Dublin’s public and displays outstanding art for everyone which is free to explore.

The exhibition runs until 1 June 2026
