Ordnance Survey

Relative Phase

[Scintilla Recordings]

Over two decades, Ordnance Survey’s Neil O’Connor has been responsible (solely or in part) for some of the most cherished transmissions from the Irish experimental and electronic landscape.

With this, his debut under this topographically informed moniker, O’Connor and his collaborators continues in this tradition. O’Connor’s nous for ambience in the Music for Airports mould has never been secret, but the rich drones, sometimes glacial pacing and discernible acoustic instrumentation evident here imbues the work with the feel of a more propulsive cousin to drone merchants par-excellence; Stars of the Lid. Recommended.
