Break Out Pictures is bringing Sinéad O’Shea’s much-anticipated documentary ‘All About the Money’ to Irish cinemas from October 30th, introducing audiences to one of the most extraordinary stories of wealth, privilege and political conviction to reach the screen this year.
What happens when someone born into extraordinary wealth decides to turn their fortune against the very system that made them rich?
That question sits at the heart of ‘All About the Money’, which follows Fergie Chambers, a member of one of America’s wealthiest families, over two years as he attempts to use his considerable fortune to challenge the capitalist system in which he was raised.
It is an extraordinary starting point for a documentary. Chambers establishes a communist collective on a property in rural Massachusetts, offering free accommodation to people who share his political beliefs. From there, his journey takes him to Tunisia and eventually into the international headlines following his recent arrest in Spain.
But ‘All About the Money’ is about more than Chambers’ political beliefs. O’Shea’s film examines the contradictions surrounding extreme wealth and what happens when someone with significant financial resources decides to use that privilege in pursuit of an entirely different social and political vision.
Rather than offering easy answers, the documentary gives audiences an intimate look at Chambers and the people around him, allowing the complexities of his story to unfold on screen.
O’Shea began filming in 2023 and followed Chambers across several countries over the subsequent two years. The result is a remarkably contemporary portrait of wealth, privilege, power and political conviction.
The film made its world premiere in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, introducing international audiences to a story that has continued to develop since filming began.
For O’Shea, the complexity of the subject was central to the filmmaking process.
“‘All About The Money’ investigates the complexities of extreme wealth and the extraordinary story of Fergie Chambers,” she says. “Our film presents some challenging situations and I don’t expect audiences to make easy assumptions.”
That approach gives the film a broader relevance beyond the extraordinary life of its central subject. At a time when questions around wealth, inequality and political power continue to dominate public conversation, ‘All About the Money’ offers a remarkably personal way into those issues.
Chambers’ recent arrest in Spain has added another unexpected chapter to the story, with the United States seeking his extradition. His circumstances have ensured that the questions raised by the documentary continue to evolve beyond the events captured on camera.
Written, directed and produced by Sinéad O’Shea, ‘All About the Money’ is produced by O’Shea alongside Claire McCabe, Katie Holly, Sigrid Dyekjær and Harry Vaughn, with Niamh Fagan serving as Executive Producer for Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland.
