With the cost of living on the rise for everyone, the latest research indicates that students in particular are feeling the pinch as much as anyone.
According to the latest Student Cost of Living Guide 2026 produced by Switcher.ie, Dublin remains Ireland’s most expensive student city, with average student costs of €1,943 per month in 2026.
Accommodation accounts for almost half of that figure, with students in Dublin facing average accommodation costs of €989 per month. Indeed, when fees are added, annual costs for Dublin’s students climb to €19,990, around €5,925 more than in Ireland’s cheapest student town, Letterkenny.
Socialising is also more expensive in the capital, with average entertainment costs reaching €409 per month – the highest of any student town included in the study.
