Good goods often come in small parcels and over in Blanchardstown this coming week they’ll be arriving in small red envelopes as Kaizen Chinese Restaurant brings a little hóngbāo magic to the table.
In Chinese tradition, red envelopes, known as hóngbāo, are typically gifted during celebrations to symbolise good fortune, prosperity and luck.
Now Dubliners have a chance to experience some of that magic, as for one week only, Kaizen is offering diners a chance to book their Lucky Red Envelope dining experience. In addition to plating up their signature Cantonese dishes, they’ll be giving every table a chance to uncover a surprise prize hidden beneath their seat, including an opportunity to win a €500 dining voucher.
Here’s how it works – at the end of their meal diners at every table will find a sealed red envelope tucked beneath a chair. Inside a tasty surprise awaits with prizes such as complimentary desserts and drinks on the house.

Once the winning vouchers have been revealed, a ‘Fortune Roll’ toss of the dice offers diners even more chances to win, with great prizes ranging from €10 to €88 up for grabs. The figure of 88 is included, we’re told, because eight is regarded as the ultimate lucky number in Chinese culture.
Adding to the buzz, one envelope, placed on a mystery night, will bag the lucky winner the €500 grand prize.
Open since 2024 and already scooping accolades including Best Chinese Restaurant in Dublin at the 2025 Asian Restaurant Awards, Kaizen focuses on refined Cantonese cooking with a strong Hong Kong influence, paired with seasonal Irish produce.
Feeling lucky? The Kaizen Lucky Red Envelope experience will run for a limited time only during the week commencing April 6th.
