The Red Line Book Festival celebrates its 15th anniversary this October with seven days of books, ideas, conversation and culture across South Dublin.
Running from October 12th –18th, the librarian-curated festival features more than 40 events, bringing big names and emerging voices to venues including The Civic, Rua Red, Rathfarnham Castle and local libraries.
Highlights include author Sarah Waters who’ll be discussing queer history and her remarkable writing with Dr Mary McAuliffe, while Louise O’Neill joins Senator Lynn Ruane to discuss her candid new memoir, A Bigger Life.

Elsewhere, Ardal O’Hanlon chats to Rick O’Shea about his new crime novel, A Plot to Die For, broadcaster Miriam O’Callaghan reflects on life and career, while a conversation with Cecelia Ahern is also on the bill.
Emmet Kirwan also brings his distinctive mix of theatre and spoken word to the stage, while 100 Years of Murder celebrates the world of Agatha Christie, with a session that promises some fascinating contributions from modern day crime writers Sophie Hannah and Catherine Ryan Howard.
There’s plenty beyond the page too, from Justine Stafford’s take on the Irish art of “It’ll Be Grand” to Reel Flamenco, plus a bumper Family Fun Day on October 17th featuring Viking history, creative workshops, Dungeons & Dragons, comics and more.
