Rowing against the obvious tide is working in Black Midi’s favour. They have left few sonic breadcrumbs to date with no tracks on Spotify, scant write-ups and just two videos – a performance in the Windmill venue in Brixton a year ago and a recording from Flesh & Bone studios in Hackney. What we do know is this ‘underground’ tag is working in favour of this four piece. Their sound is glitchy noisenik from what we’ve heard. They are signed to Rough Trade Management so in relatively adept hands. Next best thing? You decide.
