Pints, tunes and sea air… All roads lead to Howth as the north county Dublin coastal village gears up for Maritime By Night, a new after-dark festival that’s set to make its debut there this month.
Putting local hostelries front and centre, the night time venture adds a fresh dimension to the Howth Maritime and Seafood Festival, where visitors can look forward to some nice bar-to-bar wandering, as local watering holes turn into intimate gig spots for the weekend.
The weekend sees the Abbey Tavern hosting three headline nights, with trad-fusion from The Wran, Havana Roots bringing the heat, and Kíla closing things out with their signature high-energy Celtic sounds.
Elsewhere, the crawl continues, with samba rhythms at McNeill’s, live sets in The Bloody Stream, and indie bands in The Harbour Bar.
There’s lots more going on across spots including O’Connell’s, Crabby Joe’s and Wrights-Findlater, where the soundtrack runs late and the vibe is all about dipping in and out.
The festival takes place from Friday May 22nd to Sunday 24th, and most events are free.
