The latest publication from Blasta Books is a legume-laden manifesto written by Ali Honour, a creative, dynamic chef who’s efforts to feed people well without wrecking the planet first led to the start of her culinary journey with the protein packed superfood.
Entitled Beans, the book sees the outspoken advocate for sustainable eating building on three decades of work transforming humble beans and vegetables into culinary heroes.
Crammed with a host of ‘recipes for a pulse-powered future’ contents range from snacks and sides such as Sprouted Beans, Fermented Fava Bean Wraps and Spiced Dahl Fritters, to salads, soups and stews.

Mains including Lentil, Walnut and Mushroom Rissoles nestle alongside all the know-how required to recreate that incredible Bean Queen Burger, while the inclusion of drinks such as ‘Podka’ demonstrate just how far we’ve come from the days when most people’s experience of beans in Ireland came covered in tomato sauce and crammed into a can.
