SUMMARY:Youth's The Season - ?
DESCRIPTION:Part of the Gregory Project at the Abbey Theatre\, a body of work celebrating the legacy of Abbey Theatre co-founder Augusta Gregory\, Youth’s The Season – ? is director Sarah Jane Scaife’s version of Mary Manning’s 1930’s coming of age satire. \nCommenting on the play\, Sarah Jane Scaife said: “When I read Youth’s The Season -? I was really surprised at how different the world it presented felt… It was from a young\, female\, urban perspective. It was funny but in a caustic way\, which felt very recognisable to me. \nThe sense of angst\, boredom and frustration for what society had on offer to young women or young men who didn’t conform to the stereotype of Irish society\, was familiar in a very real way for me. What is so interesting today is recognising that all the same frustrations\, the fears of war\, the anxiety of being different or not fitting in that are experienced by the youth today\, are written into this play which was written by a young woman in her early twenties\, in 1930.” \nScaife’s work on Beckett’s canon has always been enthralling and with a cracking young cast\, including the rising star of Irish drama Ciara Berkeley\, this looks like a winner all round. \nApril 2nd – May 3rd \nabbeytheatre.ie

SUMMARY:The Murder Of Michael Collins
DESCRIPTION:Historical entertainer Paddy Cullivan brings you the incredible story of the death of Ireland’s first Commander-in-Chief. An audio-visual spectacular featuring hundreds of images\, shocking new research and incredible songs\, Paddy dares to unravel the secrets and lies around what happened that fateful day in Béal na mBlath\, 22nd August 1922. \nPaddy endeavours to answer many of the obtuse questions surrounding the Big Fella’s life and death; did Michael Collins have a secret son in London? Was he really going to keep to the Anglo-Irish Treaty or was he planning to resume the war? If the anti-treaty side shot him\, why did the Free State instigate a massive cover-up? How can one of the most important men in Irish history have no autopsy report\, no investigation\, inquest or even a death cert? And who really shot Michael Collins? Why is there such reticence from certain quarters – to this day – to find out the truth? \nNo less complex or mysterious than the death of JFK and with as many twists and turns\, ‘The Murder of Michael Collins’ is a fascinating rollercoaster ride that will change your perceptions of Irish history forever. \nFriday 21st February. 8.00pm \nThe Séamus Ennis Arts Centre\,  Main Street\, Naul\, Naul Village\, County Dublin. \ntseac.ie

SUMMARY:The First Draft - Rich Gilligan
DESCRIPTION:The First Draft is an artistic homecoming\, bringing internationally influenced work back to the roots of photographer Rich Gilligan’s creative journey. The exhibition revisits Gilligan’s early projects created around Blanchardstown which are presented as non-sequential vignettes exploring the complex relationship we often hold with the places that shape us\, inviting audiences to experience a dialogue between past and present. \n \nStill and moving image installations will transport visitors into the rich tapestry of life within subcultures\, where transient moments explore the process of coming of age. A true celebration of Blanchardstown and beyond\, this exhibition is an invitation to reflect on the places that hold our roots\, and how they resonate across generations and geographies. \n \n19 Feb – 03 May \nDraíocht\, The Blanchardstown Centre\, Blanchardstown\, Dublin 15 \ndraiocht.ie \nImage Credit: Rich Gilligan by Ellias Grace

SUMMARY:OUCH™
DESCRIPTION:The blurb says.. OUCH™ are dedicated to sharing memories\, objects\, and other curiosities from the little-known island of Athrú. An island some claim to be found across the Irish Sea\, many have asserted its position amongst the clouds\, leaving others to believe it is accessible through the worship of ancient trees. After centuries of silence\, they have finally developed technology capable of simulating experiences in Athrú. These experiences create memories in our test subjects which can then be converted into digital artifacts known as A-ROMs. (ATHRU-RECOVERED OUCH MEMORIES) \n \nFor the first time\, OUCH™ will be opening its doors and offering an exclusive presentation of this technology in operation. Interested? SUMMARY:Black Church Print Studio Presents Out of Time
DESCRIPTION:Black Church Print Studio presents Out of Time curated by Áine O’Hara\, recipient of Black Church Emerging Curator Award 2025. \n“Rather than bend disabled bodies and minds to meet the clock\, crip time bends the clock to meet disabled bodies and minds” Alison Kafer \nTime is often considered a linear process\, we move from the past to the present and forward to the future. Crip time is a form of time travel. Disability and illness have the ability to pull us out of linear\, progressive time with its standard life stages and thrust us into a realm of erratic acceleration\, tedious delays and sudden endings. Disabled and sick bodies and minds do not often conform to a normative idea of time. \nThe medical terminology of illness attempts to reimpose linearity\, discussing chronic conditions\, progression\, terminal stages\, relapses and phase. But those living in crip time know that experience is never linear and quietly – or not so quietly – resent the calm straightforwardness of those who exist within the confines of normative time. \nAisling Conroy\, An Gee Chan\, Caoimhe Dalton\, Jamila Prowse\, Paul Roy and Catherine Togher-Ward have used printmaking\, painting\, sculpture\, drawing\, mark making\, textiles and video work as an alternative way to keep time\, to communicate and to connect. Time is recorded in movement and creation rather than scheduling\, deadlines and hours. \n \nOut of Time invites the audience out of their daily lives into the world of crip time. Rather than us bending to meet commonplace capitalistic versions of scheduling\, deadlines\, hours\, crip time offers you a glimpse into an alternate timeline. This exhibition aims to give space to sick and disabled creatives\, as well as abled creatives who operate within a non normative idea of time and productivity. \nThis exhibition provides a physical space where rest is prioritised in the centre of Dublin city. \nOut of Time continues at The Library Project  until Wednesday 26 February 2025 and includes a number of associated events including an Artist talk\, Meditation and Sound Bath with artist\, Aisling Conroy\, a Tote Bag Printing Workshop with artist & tutor\, An Gee Chan and ‘Making on Crip Time\,’ an online artist talk by Jamila Prowse. \n \nTo book/register please visit their website page. \nThe Library Project\, 4 Temple Bar\, Dublin 2. Opening hours: Mon – Fri 11 am – 6 pm\, Sat 12 – 6 pm. \nThis exhibition is kindly supported by Dublin City Council and the Arts Council.

SUMMARY:Dalkey Comedy Festival
DESCRIPTION:This Bank holiday weekend and beyond Festival in the sumptuous surrounds of Dalkey Village sees a rather fine selection of comedy greats and new hopefuls tread the boards of Fitzpatricks Castle\, Queens\, The Colimore and Bono’s fave pub Finnegans et.al. \nThe great Dylan Moran headlines along with Emma Doran and Andrew Maxwell but we think It’s Wine o’ Clock with Norma Sheahan looks like hitting a raw nerve with the villagers. Her three teens tell her to “get a life and get a fella”\, as they take over her ‘Glow-up’ from Minger to  M.I.L.F. The braver bolder Norma has dived off the cliff and hopes to grow wings on the way down. She invites you on her journey as she gives a blow-by-blow account of her Tinder Sexcapades. \nJan 29th – Feb 9th \nTickets & info: dalkeycomedyfestival.ie
