SUMMARY:A Misanthrope
DESCRIPTION:Performed entirely in rhyming verse\, this ‘comedy of bad manners’ highlights the absurdities of 9-to-5 life\, packed with oversized egos and nonsensical management. An adaptation of Molière’s original work\, seventeenth-century France is reimagined into FRANS\, a modern Silicon Docks megacorp full of corporate crusaders. Caught in a tangle of HR and office politics\, Alceste must navigate the workplace alongside his scorned ex-lover and co-worker Célimène\, who’s plotting a way out of the cubicle. Written by Matt Minnicino and brought to life by director-designer duo Marc Atkinson Borrull and Molly O’Cathain\, ‘A Misanthrope’ delivers sharp satire\, office shenanigans and tech titan takedowns.   \nSmock Alley Theatre  \nJuly 17th – Aug 2nd  \nTickets: smockalley.com  \n

SUMMARY:Kith & Kin: The Quilts of Gee’s Bend
DESCRIPTION:The Irish Museum of Modern Art presents Kith & Kin: The Quilts of Gee’s Bend\, Ireland’s first exhibition of a renowned 200-year tradition. They also represent the resilience and self-sufficiency of the quiltmakers\, who gained attention during the Civil Rights movement and became symbols of Black empowerment and cultural pride. \nThe exhibition is on display now until October 27\, 2025. Admission is free.  \nIrish Museum of Modern Art  \nUntil Oct 27th  \nFree admission.  \nimma.ie

SUMMARY:Jorge Satorre: Did I Say I Miss You?
DESCRIPTION:Jorge Satorre’s exhibition Did I say I miss you?  brings together sculpture and drawing in a playful\, self-reflective exploration of storytelling\, craft\, and materiality. At its centre is a large new sculpture\, constructed from a steel armature and hand-woven hazel sticks and brambles—an intentionally risky\, solitary process marked by scratches and cuts. Alongside this are pencil drawings depicting insects inhabiting the gallery\, socialising and observing art. \nSatorre abandons traditional fables in favour of unresolved narratives\, using humour and precision to invite a deeper look at how meaning and form continually shift. \nTemple Bar Gallery + Studios until July 6th \ntemplebargallery.com

SUMMARY:Shorelines 2 - Dublin Painting and Sketching Club
DESCRIPTION:Shorelines 2\, is a vibrant exhibition\, exploring Dublin’s varied seascapes through brand-new works from some of Ireland’s most exciting artists. \nThe exhibition of traditional painting and drawing embraces a remarkably wide range of styles\, ranging from semi-abstracts\, like Mary Duffy’s Windy Day on Sandymount to the photo-realism of Vincent Smith’s Dun Laoghaire. The glowing Impressionism of Anne McNulty’s Red Cranes in the Distance contrasts with the dramatic Devil’s Cove by Brian Manning. \nBlue\, green and grey form the dominant colour harmonies\, but Patrick Cahill\, Kayla Martell and Brian Gallagher respond to their subjects with wonderfully warm tones. Their paintings\, drawings and etchings reflect the life of our endlessly changing coastline.Using more limited pallets\, Susan Early’s etchings and Sorcha O’Farrell’s drawings are marvellously detailed and evocative. \nThis is the 151st year of the Dublin Painting and Sketching Club’s exhibiting history. It was formed as a co-operative of artists\, in 1874\, with Nathaniel Hone\, John Butler Yeats\, Sarah Purser and Bram Stoker among its earlier members. Today\, club membership exceeds 90 and includes some of the country’s most illustrious painters\, sketch artists and print makers. \nVisitors to the exhibition will find a wealth of skill\, imagination and vision… a fitting testament to maritime Dublin and the long artistic tradition of the Club. \nCourtesy of the Dublin Port Company (DPC)\, the exhibition is housed in the Substation Gallery\, which is located at the entrance to Dublin Port\, on the corner of Alexandra Road. The exhibition is open to the public\, 11am-4.00pm\, from May 23rd to June 5th\, every day except Monday. Admission is free of charge.
