They were a distinctly Irish slice of the ‘80s –\nCork’s answer to Something Happens and Ireland’s answer to Prefab Sprout\, or something like\nthat. Formed in Cork\, in 1980\, by Cathal Coughlan and Sean O’Hagan\, Microdisney are best\nknown for their track Town to Town and were signed to both Virgin and Rough Trade.\nThey chronicled the ‘80s as lived in worn denim and grim bedsits\, they supported The Fall.\nCoughlan and O’Hagan went on to form Fatima Mansions and The High Llamas\, respectively. What we do know is this ‘underground’ tag is working in favour of this four piece. Their sound is glitchy noisenik from what we’ve heard. DESCRIPTION:The first time\, and last time\, we caught The Murder Capital was at the Other Voices stage at Electric Picnic. The post-punk five-piece brought a fervid intensity to their set with lead singer James McGovern channeling the spirit of Ian Curtis in a fireball of rage. Unlike other acts on stage\, there was no recording of their set which we can only assume is down to a rollout strategy by their management team Q Prime. In joining them\, they link up with a meaty roster of acts such as The Black Keys\, Foals\, Metallica and Muse. With support slots to Slaves and Idles\, expect much bigger stages for the boys in 2019.

I asked Rich to play bass in my band shortly after that Funnel gig and Matty a couple of years later on guitar. One of my favourite ever musical experiences was the night I got to fill in for Neil on synths and percussion at the Róisín Dubh around the time of I am Brazil. Of course\, it’s sadly no surprise that she’s only started collecting royalties of late. Her brother Robert is Brigadier Jerry and further support comes from Legal Shot Soundsystem. A classic bank holiday non-artificial sweetener from the Club.

DESCRIPTION:Superorganism really are a millennial mash-up with the playground joy of getting a ride on everything. The group consists of international members from England\, Japan\, South Korea\, Australia and New Zealand who only formed at the start of last year. We heard everything from Lemon Jelly to Giant Drag on their excellent indie pop debut but it’s really a roulette of so many acts you once loved and have possibly forgotten about. Their excellent Reflections On The Screen is the perfect top down start if you care to acquaint yourself with this fizzy drink act that simply wants you to ‘live for the now’.
