Philip Selway - By Some Miracle

Considering that Phil Selway is best known as the drummer for Radiohead, there's a noticeable lack of drums in By Some Miracle, the first single from his solo album, "Familial". Selway takes to the guitar and vocals here and is only sparsely accompanied. Right from the opening notes, it's clear he's going for a stripped-down, folkier sound than what you'd get with the Radiohead lineup-and he gets it right. With its haunting, almost melancholy or regretful refrains, Selway's songwriting debut is strong.
