Heads We Dance - Take My Picture
Single Review 14 December 2009
Heads We Dance Take My Picture
Joining the unending stream of electro-poppers to come to prominence this year, British trio Heads We Dance stake their claim to the crown held by French disco with a track fusing just the right amount of classic disco with synths-laden electro. Following on from where debut album Love Technology left off, the latest release from the Leeds outfit features alternating girl-boy vocals and even the somewhat pedestrian vocal duties don’t hamper the inherent glam-cheesiness of the track. Throw in a fittingly low budget, DIY video with highly stalkerish overtones and it seems Heads We Dance are ready to make their mark. ‘Take My Picture’ isn’t as clearly dancefloor-oriented as the likes of previous single ‘The Human Touch’ but thankfully is devoid of the warped, robotic vocals of that particular track. Despite the tendency for Heads We Dance to sound like a) a poor man’s Goldfrapp or b) a collage of Daft Punk-isms, at around the halfway mark the catchiness of this track is cemented and it seems this act are well on their way, on the 80s-robbing, synth-pop scale of things at least.
