Tony Lionni @ The Button Factory - 24 September 2010
Preview
Like Paul Ince, Peter Beardsley, and more recently Michael Owen, Tony Lionni once crossed the divide between Liverpool and Manchester. The Scouse born, Manchester bred house producer seemingly arrived from nowhere in 2008 when his omnipresent tune ‘ Found A Place' landed on Len Faki's Berghain mix. Not always smitten with electronic music, Lionni spent his youth running amuck with a b-boy crew called The Rebels In Effect. Breaking was the order of the day, and a rare photo of the posse looks like something straight out of Wild Style. While he seemed to be an overnight success, Lionni has clearly been grinding away for a very long time, and when his opportunity arose he never entertained the idea of bottling it. Already gracing labels like Ostgut ton, Wave, Mule Musiq, and Freerange, Lionni has forced his way in to classy company, a position he doesn't look like relinquishing any time soon. His brand of house is slim line without being anaemic. This is his second Nightflight appearance; clearly impressing on the first go round.
