Robert Hood

Cast your mind back 9 months ago; the Eyjafjallajökull volcano was kicking up plumes of ash, playing hell with european air space and as a knock on effect, spoiling the tireless effort of promoters everywhere. Robert Hood was one such casualty, making his imminent date at the Twisted Pepper all the more tantalising. Often credited with inventing minimal techno, Mr Hood is a pioneer in the truest sense. His 1994 album Minimal Nation is widely considered to be one of the most important, defining moments in techno and last year's re-release has brought it back to the fore. A founding member of Underground Resistance, his understated, sinewy techno has two decades of imitators, however, he has never strayed towards the fads, and remains true to his sparse approach. He also owns and operates the M-plant record label on which the lions share of his solo music is released. In the digital world of electronic music, longevity is no easy feat and Robert Hood's continued relevance speaks volumes. Test bring Robert Hood to the suitably dark and dingy basement of the Twisted Pepper.
