Kenny Larkin @ Twisted Pepper - 28 August 2010

Kenny Larkin

Kenny Larkin's musical past is anything but cookie-cutter. While his Detroit techno brethren were first finding their feet, Larkin completed a two-year service with US airforce fixing computers. When his call of duty came to an end, Larkin spent much of his time posted up at Detroit locales like The Shelter and The Music Institute. With twenty years of releases under his belt, he is responsible for a vast amount of soulful, almost Jazzy Detroit techno. With releases under Dark Comedy and Yekken adding to his considerable discography, Larkin has more than paid his dues. Ignoring the sage advice ‘ stick with your day job', the last decade saw Larkin hop head first in to stand up comedy; a move that's seen a considerable drop off in his musical output. A quick Youtube search will let you decide for yourself, but I've seen a few clips and I'll be sticking with his techno for the time being. He plays the Twisted Pepper basement August 28th.
