The fine people behind Discotekken, the monthly Saturday club night in the Twisted Pepper, are already gearing up to celebrate their first birthday in September. Having already brought DMX Krew, Inflagranti, and Space Dimension Controller to the capital over the last 10 months, they've just announced that the Legendary I-F has signed on to ring in the birthday celebrations. The term ‘legend' is often thrown around willy-nilly, but the Dutch Italo fiend I-F is fully deserving of the mantle. Seemingly born and raised in Acid squat parties around The Hague, his musical career began as part of Unit Moebius, producing electro. In 1997 I-F released ‘ Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass', a cross over hit that while overplayed during the slightly regrettable electroclash days, is still an absolute beast. His Mixed Up In the Hague Vol. 1 mix tape is often credited with reviving Italo Disco, and is flat out one of the best mixes ever made. Alongside his production and DJ duties, I-F is the head honcho of Viewlexx records and was the man behind the now defunct, but seminal internet radio station CBS. I could go on at length, or you could just get your grubby paws on one of his mixes. He plays the Twisted Pepper on September 11th with support from Louis Scully and Chris O'Donohoe.
