London Grammar

Truth is a Beautiful Thing

[Metal and Dust}

With their sophomore venture, London Grammar again bear the minimalist stamp of their forebears, channeling Zero 7 and James Blake in equal measure.

The trio’s sparse, delicate arrangements allow the music to breathe, largely serving to showcase Hannah Reid’s entrancing vocals.

As before, it’s all highly measured and restrained, though this time a purposeful cinematic edge enhances the ethereal ambience.

The tracks ebb and flow with lush elegance, sporadically flickering to life.

It’s so thoroughly unobtrusive, however, that listener restlessness duly ensues.

An occasional change of pace is a beautiful thing.
