The Big Pink - A Brief History of Love
Album Review 25 August 2009
The latest buzz band to come with black leather jackets surgically attached, The Big Pink's Converse-gazing relies heavily on distortion and nasal Britpop vocals. Only the title track touches on the gorgeous melancholy of original shoegaze; single Dominos positions itself as an anthem for skinny-jean lotharios, while opener Crystal Visions makes the prospect of 'two-hundred naked pure gold girls' sound disappointing. Overall, they come off apathetic and disarmingly like Kula Shaker
