Laguna Collective, an organization that supports & empowers indigenous women in Mexico, hosts a pop-up sale at Exchequer Street in Dublin’s city centre this coming Friday 1st June and Saturday 2nd June.

Part of the Slow Fashion movement where fabric, time and craft take priority over trends and fast consumer culture, the Laguna Collective creates handmade garments in small batches, limiting production to ensure the highest quality and the one-of-a-kind finish that defines their line.

All of the fabrics used are natural and organic, with most of the dyes coming from plants & pieces of wood locally sourced in Mexico. The embroidery art has been designed by the label and each of the handmade pieces comes with an exclusive touch capturing the particular style and mood of the individual woman who made it.

Laguna Collective is an organization that supports & empowers indigenous women in Mexico, seeking to create a better livelihood and just economic reward for their work & talent.

The goal of the collective is to stimulate direct & fair trade with the women who need it most, ensuring healthier economic conditions for themselves, their household and the wider community in which they live.

“It is vital these women stay in their villages, to nurture their traditions and culture. The modern world requires they contribute to the economy in order to survive and provide for  their families. The conditions they live in, though humble to our eyes, are rich in wisdom and simplicity. We wish to connect the modern lifestyle with this wisdom & simplicity, to create direct links with the humble nature of a happy life”.

The Laguna Collective hosts a pop-up event on Friday 1st June (4pm-8pm) with a talk about the project at 5:00 pm and Saturday 2nd June (12:00pm till 7pm). The event takes place at 30 Exchequer Street Dublin 2
