Lady Gaga - The O2 - 21 February 2010
Live Preview 21 February 2010
A star very much in the ascendance, Lady Gaga has had a meteoric rise to the top of the pop world. A polarizing figure to say the least, she certainly has her detractors, but nothing seems capable of stopping this bizarre songbird. After selling more records than anyone has had hot dinners in 2009, Stefani Germanotta shows no sign of loosening her strangle hold on the charts. Amidst the sea of heinous pop music that was released last year, her album the Fame Monster stood tall, and whether you like her or not, only the deluded question her artistic integrity. Fashion is an integral cog in the Lady Gaga machine, and she often turns out in outfits that look straight off the shelves of a Capel street sex shop; her red lace gimp mask a memorable choice. Aware that good music does not a pop star make, Gaga has obviously spent countless hours developing a live show that exceeds those of her contemporaries, and the hordes of fans who will pack the O2 can expect a seedy, extravagant, and carnivalesque affair.
