The national penchant for Poitín has been officially documented as far back as the sixth century, with the illicit spirit finally emerging from three centuries of prohibition in 1997.

Ireland’s moonshine is currently enjoying a moment at the Bán Poitín Bar, where social historians and curious enthusiasts alike are invited to meet Poitín Bán creator Dave Mulligan and partake in a series of poitín-themed events, cocktails and master classes.

Open Thursday to Sundays from 5pm, the pop-up is located between Dublin Castle Gates and the George, beside Berlin Cafe on Dame Lane.
