Anyone with an idea, a blog and a URL can publish themselves online, but the Summer Edition 2010 book fair pushes the digital aside and celebrates the analog form of self-publishing with a day devoted to artists books, comics and zines.

Taking place at Filmbase in Temple Bar on Saturday the 24th of July, the second-annual fair showcases independent publishers, writers and artists from across Ireland and the UK. While the focus is mainly on handmade books, alternative comics and personal zines, there will also be displays of poetry, visual art, craftwork and other creative pursuits.

Entry is free to the public, so there's no excuse to spend a day sitting at your laptop, trolling through blog posts, when you could be discovering the best of little-known writers, cartoonists and artists.
