Ricky Gervais
Location: The O2, East Link Bridge, North Wall Quay, Dublin 1
Ricky is surely one comedian in need of little introduction, and minds are usually made up about him one way or the other. Either he's the lolocaustic genius behind the best comedies of the last decade, delighting his audience with his array of deliciously un-PC jokes about gays, spazzes and gay spazzes. Or he's a one-track-minded self-aggrandising chancer with an unbelievably limited repertoire, whose one saving grace is the Office, a work of undeniable excellence, but who has yet to prove himself as anything better than a formulaic hack in the stand-up arena.
No matter what the critics say, and no matter how hyper-sensitively he reacts to them while insisting he doesn't care, Ricky will continue to sell bucketloads of tickets, and DVDs, and children's books, and podcasts. But he's only a humble sort from Reading really. Did I mention he has a DVD out?
