Dara O'Briain

Location: Vicar Street, Thomas Street, Dublin 8

Perhaps lesser known for his three year stint at University College Dublin as a student of Maths and Theoretical Physics, O' Briain's college years, where he took an active interest in debating and became auditor of the college's prestigious Literary and Historical Society, played a significant role in the development of the comic persona that has brought him such success, and science's loss has unquestionably been comedy's gain.

O' Briain landed a number of presenting gigs post-graduation including on RTE's Don't Feed the Gondolas and The Panel, both of which have helped to launch some of Ireland's top professional comedians, as well as O' Briain himself. Re-locating to the UK proved a wise career move for the current king of panel show comedy and host of BBC2's Mock the Week, where the likes of Frankie Boyle and Russell Howard regularly compete for his attention. O' Briain's home-comings are always a popular affair and this latest series of performances in January and February seem likely to be no exception with tickets being snapped up at a phenomenal rate even by O' Briain's standards, who has sold-out over 20 nights at Vicar Street in the past. A string of dates for the following September have already been added to cater for the demand to see one of the most respected and mis-pronounced names in Irish comedy.
