Celebrating Free Events For All: Eventbrite Presents “FREE”

Posted April 2, 2016 in Exhibition Previews

Central Bank of Ireland Visitor Centre

Starting on Monday, April 11, for one week only, Eventbrite showcases “FREE”, an exhibition of rarely seen photographs that provide a window on some of the most inspiring and seminal public events in Irish history since the formation of the state. The exhibition at The Teeling Whiskey Distillery in Dublin’s Liberties aims to shine a light on the important role free public events play in our culture and identity, and the unifying effect they have on our communities.

Digging deep into the archives at The Irish Times and the Irish Photo Archive, the exhibition includes visual eye-witness accounts of high profile events like JFK’s visit in Galway in 1963, The gay marriage referendum celebrations at Dublin castle last year, but also lesser known gems like Sitric Picnic in Stoneybatter as well as sporting events like Ras Tailteann in 1975.

Panel For organisers of Free Events: How To Get Sponsorship + How To Keep It

On Wednesday, April 13 at 6pm, as part of the exhibition and hosted by the popular Banter series of talks, a panel of seasoned event experts will give insights into how organisers of free public events can win and keep vital sponsorship.

Colin Hart, the founder & creative director of The Public House will provide the sponsor’s point of view, while Sam Bishop, the manager of Happenings and founder of Street Feast + Granby Park and Aine O’Mahony, a marketing and event management consultant who supported events like The Galway Oyster Festival, Volvo Ocean Race and Dublin’s St. Patricks’s Festival will lend their experience from the organiser’s perspective.

Both the exhibition and the Banter event are free to attend. Free pre-registration is strongly advised, as space is limited.  Every registered attendee will be entered into a draw to win one of the exhibited images.
